The FMML 2023 batch was a remarkable success, featuring a comprehensive nine-module program that began on August 19, 2023. Esteemed faculty delivered the lectures, supported by 10 dedicated Teaching Assistants (TAs) who facilitated tutorial sessions. Student Training Program on AIML Nov 2024

Student Training Program on AIML May 2024

The Student Training Program on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AIML) for May 2024 spanned six months, from 19 May 2024 to 20 October 2024, with enthusiastic participation from 60 dedicated students (graduating in 2025) enrolled in 4-year B.Tech programs accredited by AICTE at technical institutions in and around Hyderabad. These students, who are toppers at their respective institutions, were recommended by their Heads of Departments (HoDs) or Heads of Institutions.

The lecture sessions were delivered by esteemed faculty, supported by two Teaching Assistants (TAs) who actively facilitated weekly tutorial sessions. Invited lectures were also conducted to enhance students’ understanding: “AIML in Speech Systems” by Dr. Anil Kumar Vuppala and “Use of AI/ML Systems for Biometric Applications” by Prof. Anoop M. Namboodiri.

To ensure active learning and consistent engagement, module-wise assessments and weekly quizzes were conducted for both the lecture and tutorial sessions. Certificates of participation were distributed to all students who successfully completed the program, acknowledging their dedication and effort.

The Student Training Program on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AIML) for 2023 spanned six months, from 20 August 2023 to 04 February 2024, with enthusiastic participation from 157 dedicated students pursuing 4-year B.Tech programs accredited by AICTE at technical institutions in and around Hyderabad. These students, who are the top performers at their respective institutions, were recommended by their Heads of Departments (HoDs) or Heads of Institutions.

The lecture sessions were delivered by esteemed faculty, with support from ten Teaching Assistants (TAs) who actively facilitated weekly tutorial sessions. To further enrich the students’ understanding, a special workshop was conducted on “Large Language Models (LLMs)”, organized by Prof. Ponnurangam Kumaraguru and his Team at PreCog – IIIT Hyderabad.

Advanced Training Program on AIML for DRDO – Dec 2024

iHub-Data, IIIT Hyderabad organized the Advanced Training Program on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) for DRDO scientists from 9 December 2024 to 20 December 2024. The program aimed to enhance the R&D capabilities of strategic research institutions by providing a comprehensive overview of advanced AI/ML tools, public datasets, and model evaluation techniques. The participants comprised 31 senior scientists from 21 DRDO labs, who had previously attended a two-week foundational training program on AI/ML at IIIT Hyderabad last year.

This advanced training built on their foundational knowledge, focusing on cutting-edge topics such as Computer Vision, Internet of Things, Large Language Models, SLAM, and Sustainable AI Systems. The program featured lectures, tutorials, and hands-on sessions delivered by 17 distinguished resource persons, including eminent faculty and researchers from IIIT Hyderabad, and was supported by 18 Teaching Assistants.

8th Summer School on AI – 2024

The CVIT 8th Summer School on AI, with a focus on Computer Vision and Machine Learning, successfully concluded its offline sessions from July 1 to July 7, 2024. The week-long program hosted 196 participants, who benefited from insightful sessions delivered by distinguished faculty and industry experts.

The event offered a comprehensive overview of recent advancements in AI, fostering valuable discussions and networking opportunities for Master’s and Ph.D. students, undergraduates, and professionals.

iHub-Data graciously extended its support to this exceptional event, enhancing the overall experience for all participants.

Student Research Internship on Technological Innovations – SRISHTI Nov 2024

The Student Research Internship on Technological Innovations (SRISHTI) – November 2024 aims to enhance the academic and research skills of undergraduate engineering students from institutions in and around Hyderabad.

From a pool of 109 students who previously completed the Foundational Training on AIML at IIIT Hyderabad, 82 students were chosen by faculty members from various research centers at the institute.

The program engages students in research or related activities under the mentorship of a research supervisor and a team of researchers at their assigned research center within IIIT Hyderabad.

Intel-Unnati-IIITH-iHub-Data Internship Program

The Intel® Unnati Grand Challenge – Summer 2023 fostered innovation in mobility technology, challenging students to solve real-world problems using the India Driving Dataset (IDD) provided by Intel India, leveraging their expertise in Python programming and Deep Learning fundamentals.

The nine winners of the challenge were awarded an exclusive internship opportunity at IIIT Hyderabad, which began on 13th January 2024 and concluded on 24th February 2024. The internship included two weeks of on-site engagement at IIIT Hyderabad, followed by four weeks of remote collaboration.

The top three winning teams, their respective projects, and supervisors are as follows:

  1. Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, Coimbatore for “Development of Project iRASTE Dynamic Dashboard and UI for INAI Projects” under the supervision of Govind Krishnan.
  2. Rajalakshmi Institute of Technology, Chennai for “Enhancement of Localization Accuracy” under the supervision of Dr. Abdul Hafez and Dr. Shankar Gangishetty.
  3. St. Vincent Pallotti College of Engineering and Technology, Nagpur for “Drone Video Updates and Objects Detection” under the supervision of Govind Krishnan.

During the internship, participants gained hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies while contributing to mobility projects under expert mentorship.

Student Research Internship on Technological Innovations – SRISHTI Jan 2024

The Student Research Internship for 2024 was inaugurated by Prof. Ponnurangam Kumaraguru. Promoted and sponsored by iHub-Data, this program aims to enhance the academic and research capabilities of undergraduate engineering students in and around Hyderabad. A total of 140 interns have been selected by 18 faculty members from various research centers at IIIT Hyderabad.

The interns participated in research activities under the mentorship of qualified supervisors and research teams at specified IIIT Hyderabad research centers. This initiative offered an opportunity for students to develop practical skills and gain invaluable exposure to cutting-edge research in the field of engineering. The program ran from 01-01-2024 to 30-06-2024.

International Advanced Summer School on NLP (IASNLP-2024)

The 12th Advanced Summer School on NLP (IASNLP) was held at IIIT Hyderabad from June 21 to July 6, 2024. The event focused on Natural Language Generation and advanced research in Indian language NLP.

The event began with a two-day introduction to key tools and concepts, followed by lectures and hands-on projects. Renowned researchers covered topics such as linguistics, language modeling, and machine learning, with expert-led mentorship for project work.

JNCASR – CECAM Conference on MD@60

This conference commemorated the 60th anniversary of Anees Rahman’s groundbreaking paper on molecular dynamics (MD) simulations of liquid argon and marked the inaugural CECAM event in India, organized in collaboration with JNCASR. It drew more than 300 participants from 14 countries and showcased 43 invited lectures, including a Plenary by Prof. Michele Parrinello and a Special Evening Lecture by Prof. Michael Klein.

The event promoted global collaboration and progress in computational research. It was held from February 26 to February 29, 2024, at JNCASR in Bangalore.

The 9th National Conference on Computer Vision, Pattern Recognition, Image Processing and Graphics – NCVPRIPG-2024

The Ninth National Conference on Computer Vision, Pattern Recognition, Image Processing, and Graphics (NCVPRIPG 2024) took place from July 18-20, 2024, at the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.

Organized by IIST in collaboration with the Indian Unit for Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence (IUPRAI), the conference brought together researchers and practitioners from fields like computer vision, graphics, image processing, and pattern recognition to foster discussions and advance research in these areas.

ML4Science Meeting March 2025 (Upcoming)

ML4Science 2025, the fourth annual discussion meeting, will be held from February 6-8, 2025, at Tripura Castle, Shillong, Meghalaya. This three-day event will focus on the applications of Modern Machine Learning in Molecular Sciences, bringing together around 70 participants, including established scientists and early-career researchers.

Key highlights include invited talks from 20 leading experts from prestigious institutions such as IITs, IIITs, TIFR, CSIR, IISc, and more. The event will also feature 40+ poster sessions, hands-on hackathons, and discussions on AI/ML applications in Molecule/Drug/Material design and MD simulations.

The UG Minor Program, launched on August 19, 2023, successfully concluded its journey spanning four semesters. Designed with a robust semester-wise structure, the program was conducted under the expert guidance of Dr. Monalisa Patra and a dedicated Teaching Assistant. It began with an enthusiastic batch of students from G.H. Raisoni College of Engineering, Nagpur, and now celebrates its successful completion.

This program offered a rich blend of impactful lectures, hands-on tutorials, collaborative projects, quizzes, and rigorous module-wise examinations, ensuring a comprehensive and practical learning experience in machine learning.

Minor Degree in Modern Machine Learning

The Minor Degree in Modern Machine Learning program has continued to grow and refine its outreach efforts in 2024. As part of its expansion initiatives, the program engaged with 17 colleges through meetings and discussions, resulting in three institutions signing Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs). Despite these agreements, enrollment from the partnered institutes did not meet the expected numbers.

As a result, the program proceeded exclusively in collaboration with G. H. Raisoni College of Engineering (GHRCE), Nagpur, which successfully enrolled students for the academic year.

He is a Senior Research Scientist, Psych/Major Laboratories and Clinical & Translational Neurosciences Incubator, at Stanford University. Dr. Ryali holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science, completed in 2005.

Talika Gupta, a former participant of the Summer Research Internship (SRiSHTi-22) under the supervision of Prof. Sudipta Banerjee, is currently pursuing an M.S. in Computer Science at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). Her research interests have been shaped by the valuable experience she gained during her internship at iHub-Data, IIITH.

Ishaan Chawathe, a former participant participant of the FMML August 2022 batch, undertook a research internship Summer Research Internship on Technological Innovations (SRiSHTi-23) at iHub-Data, IIIT Hyderabad, under the supervision of Dr. Chiranjeevi Yarra. Ishaan is currently pursuing his MS in Machine Learning at Stevens Institute of Technology, USA. He completed his internship at iHub-Data, IIITH, under the supervision of Dr. Chiranjeevi Yarra.

Mohd Zeeshan

Mohd Zeeshan

Mohd Zeeshan, a former participant of the Student Training Program on AIML held in December 2023, followed by a research internship under the SRISHTI-24 program at iHub-Data, IIIT Hyderabad, is currently working as a Data Scientist at Akridata in Bengaluru, Karnataka. His work focuses on advanced computer vision research, including industrial anomaly detection and segmentation. He has successfully deployed GAN-based anomaly detection models in production and worked on Diffusion models for synthetic defect generation. Mohd Zeeshan’s career journey also includes a Machine Learning Internship at Akridata, where he fine-tuned zero-shot object detection models, significantly improving their accuracy.

Vansh Nawander

Vansh Nawander, a former participant of the Student Training Program on AIML held in August 2023, is currently a Software Development Engineer at Datazoic. In addition to his role at Datazoic, Vansh is also a Research Intern at the Language Technologies Research Centre (LTRC) in Hyderabad, working under the guidance of Dr. Manish Shrivastava on document processing. Vansh actively pursues freelance AI/ML projects, primarily focusing on Natural Language Processing (NLP) and general AI applications.

Prathipati Preetham

Prathipati Preetham

Prathipati Preetham is pursuing an MS in Computer Science at Boston University (Class of 2026), specializing in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Computer Vision, Speech Processing, IoT Integration, Cybersecurity, and Research. He is also a former participant of the FMML August 2022 batch and the SRISHTI-23 batch.

Shaik Qhadeer, a former participant of the Student Training Program on AI/ML, also undertook a research internship at IIIT Hyderabad as part of the SRISHTI-24 program at iHub-Data, IIIT Hyderabad, under the supervision of Dr. C. K. Raju. He is an alumnus of ISL Engineering College, Hyderabad.
Qhadeer presented his first research paper titled “Revolutionizing Reconnaissance: AI-Powered Drones for Military and Civilian Applications” at a two-day All-India Seminar organized by The Institution of Engineers at MGIT Hyderabad. His paper explored innovative applications of AI in drone technology for both military and civilian use. Qhadeer’s passion for AI drives his research and academic pursuits, paving the way for impactful contributions in the field.

Shiva Nampalli participated in the Student training program on AI/ML 2023 , also undertook the research internship at IIIT Hyderabad as part of the SRISHTI-24 program at iHub-Data, under the supervision of Dr. C. K. Raju, and is currently a Software Engineer – Machine Learning at MulticoreWare. Previously, he worked as an AI Research Intern at IIIT-H, with expertise in Neural Networks, Deep Learning, Computer Vision, and Large Language Models (LLMs).

Hemanth Sai

Hemanth Sai, a former participant of the Student Training Program on AI/ML, is currently pursuing a Master’s in Artificial Intelligence at Northeastern University, Boston. He has contributed to the SRISHTI-24 AIML program at IIIT Hyderabad and previously served as a Project Lead at the Indian Air Force Academy. Additionally, he has interned at Sclanet and HBots Robotics. His areas of expertise include Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Neural Networks, and Computer Vision.

MD Nihal Hussain participated in a student training program on AI/ML and is currently pursuing an M.Tech in Data Science at JNTU Hyderabad. A Computer Science graduate, he previously worked as a Research Intern at IIIT Hyderabad.
