12th Workshop on Excitement of Research (17 March 2024)
The 12th Workshop on Excitement of Research held on March 17, 2024, as part of IIITH’s annual R&D Showcase, served as a platform for students and faculty from various technical institutes and universities to engage with the research endeavors at IIIT Hyderabad. Themed “Interconnect and its relevance between algorithms, ethics, and society,” this year’s showcase highlighted ongoing projects and collaborations, underscoring the institute’s commitment to applied research for societal benefit.

Esteemed professors such as Prof. P J Narayanan, Prof. Jawahar C V, Dr. Suryajith Chillara, Dr. Karthik Vaidhyanathan, Dr. Raju C K, and Dr. Aftab Hussain delivered keynote addresses that sparked thought-provoking discussions. Prof. Narayanan emphasized the catalytic role of individuals in driving innovation, urging everyone to embark on their journey of discovery. Dr. Suryajith Chillara’s journey from a different field resonated with many, highlighting the power of following one’s passion relentlessly.
Dr. Karthik Vaidhyanathan’s presentation echoed the sentiment of perseverance, showcasing the transformative power of determination in achieving lofty goals. Meanwhile, Dr. Raju C K shed light on the evolving landscape of research opportunities, unveiling the vast potential that awaits those willing to explore.
Dr. Aftab Hussain’s presentation stood out for its visual depiction of human learning and the societal impact of research. Attendees were particularly intrigued by his insights on navigating limited funds and balancing the benefits and drawbacks of research endeavors. His overview emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary research, especially in areas like Computational Biology and Cognitive Sciences.
