INAI Data Analytics Challenge on Road Safety

In collaboration with iHub-Data at IIIT-Hyderabad (https://ihub-data.iiit.ac.in) and CSIR-CRRI (https://crridom.gov.in/), INAI, the Applied AI Research Center at IIIT-Hyderabad has announced a Data Analytics Challenge on Road Safety, at the IRASTE-NXT conference (https://www.inai.ai/iraste_nxt/). 

INAI leads the iRASTE projects (https://inai.iiit.ac.in/iraste.html) aimed at improving road safety using AI-based Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), and Driver Monitoring System (DMS).  iRASTE is the largest study of ADAS technology in India with over 450 vehicles. 

This Challenge provides participants with real-world ADAS and DMS data from 

  • 1.8 million real-world events  
  • 130 vehicles, operating 24/7 over 30 days 
  • City-roads and national highways 

The participating teams are expected to identify insightful patterns or problems from the given data and propose possible solutions.  The challenge primarily intended for students is also open to non-students and researchers, at national and international levels. 

The objectives of this challenge are to:    

  • Study patterns in the given large-scale, real-world data   
  • Derive insights relevant to road-safety   
  • Propose possible solutions based on the insights, which can be deployed in the real-world to improve road-safety  

Timelines: 

  • Last date to register: 10 Aug 2023  
  • Challenge ends: 01 Oct 2023  
  • Final submission due: 01 Oct 2023  
  • Results announced: 15 Oct 2023  


Awards/Prizes:

INAI is sponsoring the following awards for the winners of the Challenge:  

  • 1st prize: INR 1,00,000 (approx. USD 1,200)  
  • 2nd prize: INR 50,000 (approx. USD 600)  
  • 3rd prize: INR 25,000 (approx. USD 300)  

To receive the cash awards, at least one participant in the team is required to have a bank account in India.  

The winners will receive the awards at an event during the CTRG conference (https://ctrg2023.trgindia.org/) and will also get an opportunity to present their methodology at the event.
